It’s that time of year when people start pulling out their beads and tutus for Mardi Gras! It’s also that time of year when that glorious treat for Carnival season comes around – the King Cake. This year, why not have your cake and drink it too?!

This drink is so easy to make! You are going to fall head over heels with the mix of flavors in this cocktail. The flavored vodkas along with the juice provide a sweet element. Then the addition of cinnamon and bubbles from the Sprite elevates it to a whole new level.

So if you’re ready to try a Carnival themed cocktail in the comfort of your own home, grab your favorite cup and mix up a batch for friends!a clear glass filled with cocktail sitting in front of Mardi Gras inspired decorationsHow to Make a King Cake Cocktail

This recipe is so simple to shake up and the flavor is utterly delicious! Outside of your liquor, you really only need a great cocktail shaker set and maybe some fun fancy glasses.

Ingredients:

  • 2 OZ Vanilla Vodka
  • 2 OZ Cake Flavored Vodka
  • 1 OZ Cinnamon Schnapps
  • 6 OZ Grape Juice
  • 2 OZ Sprite
  • Cherries for Garnish
  • Crushed Ice

Instructions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker add a small amount of crushed ice, maybe 3-4 pieces, all three liquors and the grape juice.
  2. Shake to combine
  3. Pour into ice filled glasses and top with Sprite. Garnish with cherries.

Don’t Forget The Baby!

With a traditional King Cake, a small baby is baked into the cake. Tradition dictates that if your piece has that baby inside, it symbolizes luck and prosperity for the coming year. Just because your King Cake is in liquid form with this recipe doesn’t mean you have to skip the baby! Freeze the baby in a large ice cube to drop down in one of the drinks. The person that gets the baby can make the next round!

Make a King Cake Cocktail even More Festive!

If you want to bring in more of the Mardi Gras spirit and festivity, grab some green, gold, and purple sugars. Rub the rim of your glasses with either a wedge of lime, or a little bit extra of the Vanilla Vodka. Then rim the edge in the green, gold, and purple sugars.
