DIY Valentine’s Day Fizzing Bath Salts

January 22, 2020 by Greta Brinkley 6 Comments

Sometimes, you need to relax and unwind, and a hot bath is the perfect way to do so. Pour yourself a beverage, light a few candles, and add some of these DIY fizzing bath salts to your bath.

Valentine's Day Fizzing Bath Salts

These Valentine’s fizzy bath salts are the perfect gift for your galentines, your sister, mom, or even your daughter. Plus, they’re easy to make and practically foolproof.

If you didn’t know, fizzing bath salts are similar to a bath bomb, only they’re in a loose form, and usually come in a jar.  While these particular fizzy bath salts are Valentine’s Day themed, they’re really great for any time of the year. You can even make up a big batch of bath salts and give them to your friends as gifts.

Difficulty: easy

A simple and easy DIY project to make fizzing bath salts with a Valentine's Day twist.

Materials

  • 1 ounce Epsom Salts
  • 2 ounces Baking Soda
  • 1 ounce Cornstarch
  • 1 ounce Citric Acid
  • 1-2 drops Cherry Soap Colorant
  • 15 drops Strawberry Fragrance Oil
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon heart sprinkles

Instructions

Add the dry ingredients (Epsom Salts, Baking Soda, Cornstarch and Citric Acid) into a medium size glass bowl, one ingredient at a time. Stir until completely combined.

In a small jar with a lid, add soap colorant, fragrance oil and olive oil. Place lid on and shake well until all liquid ingredients are combined.

Slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients, whisking the entire time. Continue whisking until you have an even texture. It should be kind of crumbly.

Add the sprinkles to the mix and stir to combine.

Place the fizzy bath salts into a decorative jar. Use 3-5 tablespoons of fizzing bath salts in your bath.

See how simple and easy it is to make fizzy bath salts? It truly is pretty much foolproof.  Simply add them to a pretty little jar after you make them, if you’re giving these as a gift. A 4 oz canning jar is a perfect size, and they have some that are really decorative nowadays. And if you want to make fizzing bath salts for a crowd, this bath salts recipe is easily multiplied.

You could omit the soap colorant, but I think it adds a gorgeous light pink color to these bath salts. Without it, they’d be different shades of white, and look a little sad.
