How to Get Christina Aguilera’s AMA Look

November 29, 2013 by Greta Brinkley 1 Comment

Sharing is caring!

Christina Aguilera has been looking good lately.  Really good.  She’s leaning towards the understated rather than the over the top outfits and it’s really doing wonders for her.

She’s also been foregoing the giant wigs and all of the hair extensions.  Since my hair’s natural texture is very similar to hers, I’ve been paying attention to the latest styles.

The 41st Annual American Music Awards last weekend and Christina Aguilera stole the show! The moment she stepped out on the red carpet, and again shortly after she took the stage for her moving performance, all eyes were on her.

From head to toe, Christina was the epitome of timeless beauty on the red carpet in a Maria Lucia Hohan crisp white satin gown with a side slit and diamond-shaped side cut-outs at the waist, Christian Louboutin shoes, a Jimmy Choo bag, Lorraine Schwartz jewels, and flawless makeup. Christina’s look was highlighted by smooth, voluminous curls courtesy of celebrity stylist, David Babaii.

Come her emotionally charged performance, Say Something, with A Great Big World, David styled the songstress’ hair perfectly, with an on-trend bun and braided headband.

How to Get Christina Aguilera’s AMA look, per David Babali.

  • You need to start with damp hair and blow it out straight with a sleek center part.
  • Next, take a significant amount of hair at the nape of the neck and braid it tightly, bringing it up and over the head.
  • Secure the braid with bobby pins.
  • Take the rest of the hair and put it in a low bun, spritzing it with a styling spray to ensure everything stays in place.  Especially if you’re  going to be  performing on the AMAs.  Or just going about your day.

This is a gorgeous look for your holiday parties, yet not too fancy to wear to work.

Cute! I’m loving the braids this season, as it’s a great way to add some texture to an updo.
