When I was a kid, my grandmother used to wear espadrilles when she mopped the tile. I always thought that was so strange, but I guess her reasoning was that the twine made her steadier. I don’t know, seems like a weird reason to me. Anyway, her espadrilles were these great platform shoes from the late 1970s or early 1980s that she got on a trip to Mexico. And I thought they were awesome.
What’s old is new again, and vintage retro has been having a heyday for a minute now. Espadrilles seemed to have been kind of overlooked in this renaissance, though. Never fear. Espadrilles are back in a big way, baby. Each of these pairs is under $75, with most under $50.
