Summertime means that plenty of people will be breaking out their newest pairs of footwear. The warm weather ensures that there will be plenty of variety in what people will be sporting, from sandals to sneakers to moccasins, creating a paradise for shoe lovers.

One of the main places where people draw shoe wear inspiration from is Europe, as people look to the streets of Paris, Milan and London. The trends for this year have already been well established, so let’s take a look at the current shoes that are all over the European streets right now.

1. Clog Sandals

The clog is a shoe that never seems to go out of fashion. The style was first made out of wood, and its origins go all the way back to ancient Greece. That is not to say that the clog has not evolved, and the pairs seen out in the wild are totally in right now.

One of the nice things about clogs is just how versatile they can become. And shoppers can grab nice-looking pairs on the cheap or can really go for a luxurious look by opting for brands like Hermes or Zimmermann.

2. Minimalist Classic Sneakers

The sneakers that have truly stood the test of time are the ones that blended sports function with bold and fashionable looks. They may not be functional anymore on the tennis court or the soccer pitch, but they have become legendary in the sneakerhead crowd.

Two classics from adidas are especially popular right now. One is the Gazelle, the basic three-striped runner than comes in a variety of fun colors. Also thriving is the Samba Classic, which has been popular on the streets since the 70s.

3. Higher End Flip-Flops

It is officially flip-flop time across the country as people wear their beach footwear to do pretty much everything else as well. Most people have at least a cheap pair of rubber thongs for every day use along with a leather pair when you’re looking to dress up your look a bit.

The current trend in flip-flops goes far beyond that with people shelling out hundreds for nicer pairs. Women can score a pair of Alexander Wangs for a bit under $200, a pair of Christian Loubitons (red bottoms included) and a pair of Pradas for $750.

4. Plain Old White Sneakers

Certain shoes will just never go out of style, and that pertains to things like crisp white t-shirts, a perfect pair of blue jeans and of course, a bright white pair of sneakers. It may take some work to keep them looking their best, but almost nothing looks better when the weather turns warm.

Pretty much any shoe manufacturer makes a really nice white shoe, but its one of the oldest versions that still takes the crown; the Adidas Stan Smith. Other standout white sneakers include the Coach Soho sneaker, the Alo Recovery Mode and the Rothy’s RS01.

5. Snakey Leathers

Snakeskin shoes have been very trendy in 2025, and the variety of shoes that feature this texture ensures that every woman who wants to can take part in the trend. Snakeskin has been seen on everything from ballet flats to pumps to mules to ankle boots.

That variety in styles means that people can expect to pay from a variety of price points. An attractive pair of ballet flats from Zara will cost around $50. A sharp pair of snake print goat leather heels from Ayede sells for $435, and a pair of adidas Country Japan sneakers runs for $214.

6. Autry Medalists For Men and Women Both

A high-end tennis sneaker brand in the 1980s, Autry stopped producing shoes for decades before being revived in 2020. The shoes are known for being exceedingly well-made while also keeping a terrific design aesthetic. While they are comfortable, they are dressy enough that some people have paired them with suits.

Another nice thing is that Autry makes great-looking shoes for both men and women. Currently, their most popular offering is the Medalist, a white sneaker that looks like the very best tennis sneakers from the 1980s and will go with just about anything.

7. Thongs on Everything

Thong-style sandals are another classic that is having a moment in 2025. The thong-style can be attached to everything from a simple rubber flip-flop to a high-end shoe. A current trend in women’s fashion is adding casual features to dressier outfits, and the thong certainly makes it easier for designers to do this.

The trend was hot during the spring and summer runway shows earlier this year. Etro, Burberry and Dior were three of the designers who were adding thongs into this seasons lines. As these are brands that set trends, expect many, many examples to be coming out soon.

8. Boat Shoes

This style was started based on practicality. Paul Sperry invented them in 1935 as he looked to find a shoe that he could wear on his boat without slipping. To this day, the Sperry Top-Sider remains one of the best-selling boat shoes on the market, but there are many more options as well.

Like many of the shoes on the list, people can opt for anything from low-end to high-end. They are also popular among both men and women. And both sexes enjoy the versatility of the look as it can be dressed up with a pair of linen pants or dressed down with a pair of shorts.

9. Mesh Flats

The ballet flat is always a popular look and was all over the place in 2024. You still see them in 2025, but they have taken on a different look and texture. The mesh flat has become a craze as they are comfortable enough to be worn during the afternoon, but fancy enough to put on for a night out on the town.

People can get in on the trade on the cheap, as there are pairs on Amazon for less than $50. If someone wants to spend a little more money, they can opt for a pair from Staud that sells for a little under $400.
